The Nanaimo Timbermen scored a much-needed win in Western Lacrosse Association action, but will need to string some more wins together.
The senior A lacrosse club earned its first victory of the season Saturday, June 14, defeating the Langley Thunder by a 12-9 score at Frank Crane Arena.
Ryan Sheridan led Nanaimo with three goals and three assists in the win, with Thomas Vaesen adding two and two and Caleb Creasor also scoring a pair of goals. Colby Bowman earned the win in goal with 55 saves as his team was outshot 64-51.
The next night, however, the T-men lost on the road, falling 12-7 to the Victoria Shamrocks. Sheridan had two goals and three assists and Mason Pynn also scored two. Bowman made 43 saves in defeat as shots were 55-48 for the 'Rocks.
GAME ON … The Timbermen are busy over the next little while with three games in four nights starting on the road Thursday, June 19, against the New Westminster Salmonbellies. The T-men and 'Bellies then play a rematch on Saturday, June 21, at 5 p.m. at Nanaimo's Frank Crane Arena, and after that, the Coquitlam Adanacs are at Frank Crane on Sunday, June 22, for another 5 p.m. faceoff.
