Hockey Builds Character
Hockey has a strong history in Clearwater. The Clearwater and District Minor Hockey Association was founded in 1974 and in that year gave more than 150 kids the opportunity to play hockey.
The association has been running strong ever since and produced many players enjoying hockey beyond their minor hockey years. The success of the association has been made possible by parent volunteers and community support.
Hockey is a great team sport that inspires new friendships, provides physical activity, and teaches life skills that last a lifetime. Hockey players must be dimensional, team players and multi-tasking but most importantly the kids are out having fun with their friends.
The U11 Clearwater Icehawks have had an exceptional year thus far. They are currently sitting in 3rd place in their league with a record: 7-4-1. The team is only 3 pts behind Chase, who is holding 1st. What is even more impressive is their tournament record. In the 3 tournaments they have participated in this season, they have won Gold each time. They are undefeated in tournament games with 14 wins – 0 losses. There is one tournament left remaining, which will be in Clearwater, Feb 12-14. These players have every intention of keeping their winning streak going and becoming Tournament Champions yet again.
