The Township of Spallumcheen and the City of Armstrong are loosening water restrictions on Wednesday.

On Tuesday the township announced it will be removing Stage 2 water restrictions for all local area service residents on the following water systems: Hankey, Highland Park, Lansdowne, Pleasant Valley, Round Prairie, Silver Star and Stardel.

The Stage 2 water restrictions will be lifted at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 4. At that time, Stage 1 water restrictions will be in effect.

Stage 1 water restrictions are typically in effect year-round. For more information on these restrictions, visit the township's website, spallumcheentwp.bc.ca

Armstrong announced on social media Tuesday it is also downgrading water restrictions to Stage 1, effective 12 p.m. Wednesday. The city said it's downgrading the restrictions because it is able to resume using Fortune Creek as its water source.

Under Stage 1 restrictions, watering days in Armstrong are as follows:

• Addresses ending in 00-49 can water Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

• Addresses ending in 50-99 can water Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Watering can be done manually in Armstrong from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. Watering can be done automatically from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. for a maximum of three hours. Handheld watering with a shut-off nozzle is allowed any time.

Stage 2 water restrictions were put in place in Armstrong Friday, May 2.

The township and city thanked residents for their cooperation throughout the Stage 2 restriction period.
