Outdoor enthusiasts and local businesses stand to benefit by supporting this year's Shuswap Trail Alliance (STA) fundraiser.

The non-profit organization that plays a key role in developing, operating, maintaining and promoting non-motorized trails throughout the Shuswap is readying for its annual fundraising event. The 2025 Silent Auction runs Feb. 7 to 16.

"Just like last year it’s going to be 10 days of supporting trails throughout the Shuswap AND supporting our local businesses," said the STA in a media release, which goes on to explain the auction format will again include opportunities to feature local businesses, item photographs and website links "to encourage people to support local businesses."

The fundraiser takes place online at Trellis.org/2025-shuswap-trails-fundraiser, where a 50/50 raffle is already underway.

"If all the tickets sell someone could win $10,000!," said the STA, explaining the February fundraiser lays the foundation that allows the it to work with regional partners throughout the year.

"The funds are leveraged with matching grants, donations, in-kind contributions, dedicated community project budgets, and an extraordinary contribution of volunteer time to grow local greenway trails throughout the region."

In addition to being the starting date for the silent auction, Feb. 7 is also when tickets go on sale for this year's Spring Celebration, hosted by the STA at the South Canoe trails on BC Trails Day, June 7, 2025. The STA first successful Spring Celebration last year included a concert by Shred Kelly.

“The June event was such a success last year that the planning committee is looking forward to making it bigger and better this year with 2 bands and expanded capacity. Although we can’t tell you who the bands are just yet, we’re really excited and can’t wait for the big day," said STA executive director Jen Bellhouse, noting 2025 marks the trail alliance's 20th anniversary, "and we look forward to celebrating with you at this family friendly event."

“The trails within the Shuswap are a success, in large part, due to our municipal and regional partners, the trail volunteers, stewards, and users," said Bellhouse. "The collaboration between governments, organizations, and multiple user groups is something to commemorate and the Shuswap Trail Alliance would like the opportunity to celebrate the trails with the people who make them possible.”

Tickets for the June 7th event can be purchased through Eventbrite. The link will be available at www.shuswaptrails.com on Feb. 7. There will be an early-bird rate of $30 for the first 300 tickets, and like last, the event is free for ages 18 and under.
