Housing and Municipal Affairs Minister, Ravi Kahlon (centre left), and Kelowna Mayor Tom Dyas (centre right), celebrate the opening of the Bertram Street Multiuse Overpass on June 6, 2025 with other municipal, and provincial officials.

Kelowna’s newest overpass is open and helping changing how people move around the city.

The Bertram Multi-use Overpass gives people walking, biking, or rolling a safe and convenient link between downtown and surrounding neighbourhoods.

The new structure connects Bertram Street with Rowcliffe Park. The new bridge is part of a growing network of active transportation in Kelowna.

“This overpass showcases what we can achieve when all levels of government work together,” said Mayor Tom Dyas at the June 6 ribbon-cutting. “A growing city needs a transportation system that prioritizes connectivity and accessibility, while also reducing traffic congestion.”

The city hopes it will help connect communities, support local business, reduce reliance on cars, and is designed for all ages and abilities.

“Everyone deserves to have a safe and convenient way to travel through their community—no matter their abilities,” said Housing and Municipal Affairs Ravi Kahlon. “That’s why we continue to invest in projects like this.”

The project came in at $12.1 million, paid for through a three-way partnership. The City of Kelowna teamed up with the federal government, which provided $4 million, and the province, which contributed $7.2 million.
