Saanich police are advising residents to be vigilant after reports of a black bear rummaging through garbage at the 2300 block of Queenswood Drive.
Police and conservation officers are urging residents to secure all garbage bins to reduce attractants, warning that failure to do so may result in a fine.
Residents are also encouraged to report aggressive or threatening wildlife immediately by contacting BC Conservation Service at 1-877-952-7277 or local police as needed.
