Rhythm & Shoes Dancery in Clearwater raises funds with bake sale

The Rhythm & Shoes Dancery offers a variety of dance classes for youth in the North Thompson is fundraising for costumes for upcoming recitals

Sambrina Pratt has been a dance instructor for 18 years and has brought her skills to the North Thompson Valley starting the Rhythm & Shoes Dancery in the fall of 2024. The Dancery studio is currently operating out of the Blackpool Community Hall on the corner of Ferry Road and the Old North Thompson Highway.

“I opened the studio in November of 2024, and we run until June 22 when we will be having recitals," Pratt recently told the surgeryitaly about the classes she is offering. "My good friend Bethanny White also assists with three classes a week - two ballet and one hip hop. I currently run 10 classes a week, styles are mini combo for three-to-five-year olds, musical theatre, lyrical, jazz, ballet, contemporary, and hip hop."

The dance instructor also has plans to begin several adult “sass” classes starting this summer and into next season, which she says will focus on building confidence and dance technique “while providing a fun adult-friendly environment.”

Most recently the studio along with volunteering parents and students held a bake sale on Sunday April 27 to raise funds to subsidize the costs of over 60 costumes needed for the upcoming summer recitals. They raised $1144.25 of the $2,100.00  needed to cover the cost of the costumes.

“We will also be holding an online Silent Auction starting soon to help with the costumes as well,” she said.

The studio has about 48 registered students now with many in multiple classes and all are local to the area.
