PHOTOS: Castlegar Fire Department aids in Slocan wildfire fight

Four members of the Castlegar Fire Department are supporting firefighting efforts at the Slocan Wildfire Complex

On July 30, four members of the Castlegar Fire Department packed their bags and headed to the Slocan Valley to support firefighting efforts at the Slocan Wildfire Complex.

The crew is expected to be deployed for about two weeks.  CFD's Engine 1 (Structural Fire Engine Type 1) was also sent to the wildfire.

The CFD crew has been teamed up with firefighters from Coldstream and Salmon Arm to make up a task force.

According to Fire Chief Sam Lattanzio, the crew will be doing things like monitoring the fire, drafting water for the tankers and tenders, and patrolling the Village of Slocan. Their assigned area of operation is within the town, between the bridges.
