A two-vehicle accident West of Grand Forks on Sunday (June 15) evening shut the road down for several hours and claimed one life.
Grand Forks Fire/Rescue, BC ambulance and RCMP were called to a two-vehicle accident on North Fork Road about four kilometres north of the Highway 3 intersection after 7:45 p.m. Emergency crews extricated the single driver from one vehicle and a married couple from the other, according to a news release from the RCMP. The passenger in the two-person vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver was taken to Kelowna for treatment. There was no update on the driver's status.
The single driver from the other vehicle received serious, but not life-threatening injuries and was taken to Trail for medical attention.
The highway was closed for several hours, with investigation happening until 1 a.m. on Monday and recovery of the vehicles concluded around 6 a.m., according to a statement from Grand Forks Fire/Rescue.
The investigation is ongoing.
