Oak Bay police looking for man observed taking photos through window of home

Police received a report of a man running through people's yards and another of a man taking photos through a resident's windows

Police are asking those with information about reports to call 250-592-2424 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Oak Bay police received two calls about "suspicious" persons trespassing in residents’ backyards. 

Overnight on July 5, a man was captured on CCTV entering backyards between 2:45 and 5:30 a.m. in the area of Deal Street and Linkleas Avenue. He was described as wearing a blanket and carrying a hockey stick. 

Police ramped up patrols in the area following the incident.

At 4 p.m. the following day, a man was observed on a home security system walking onto a property in the 3900 block of Upper Terrace Road.  

“The individual walked to the back of the residence, looked through windows and took photos with a cellphone,” Oak Bay police said in a news release. “No attempt was made to enter the home.” 

The man was described as Caucasian and approximately 5'10", with a slim build and brown hair greying at the sides. He was wearing shorts and a T-shirt.
