On Wednesday, April 30, Little Fort Fire crews were out doing fuel mitigation work around areas at high risk for wildfires, something they do annually.
"Based on risk assessment we focus on rest stops and pullouts and other areas where people stop and have in the past disposed of cigarettes and other materials that have caused fires," Blackpoo Fire Rescue chief Mike Savage to the surgeryitaly. "By conducting controlled burn-offs reducing taller dead grasses and debris we help to eliminate fuels that add to fire fuel loads."
It's all en effort to help remove human-caused fires.
As of Thursday, May 1, the wildfire danger rating has increased to high for the Clearwater BC Wildfire zone area, Savage noted in a Facebook post.
"The public is reminded to exercise caution and avoid burning during these increased risk levels. The forecast shows the fire danger rating climbing to extreme levels by Friday."
