One of the property owners whose home faces 10th Avenue is asking the Village to remove a development variance issued in 1997.

A property owner in Keremeos has approached the village with an unusual request; they want to have a development variance for their property removed.

The variance in question was put in place almost 28 years ago, in October 1997, and removed provisions for gutters and sidewalks from the property and others along the same section of 10th Avenue.

At the time, the BC Tree Fruits Co-Op subdivided off a stretch of land that fronted onto the street in behind their facility. The variance was one of the requests they made for the subdivision at the time.

The staff report, which will go before village council on Monday, May 5, points out that the subdivision has long since been completed and the variance can be removed off the land title.
