Bear activity is increasing in Lumby as residents are leaving garbage out overnight.

The Village of Lumby has issued a warning to residents Wednesday, May 14 that there is a lot of bear activity in the area between Catt through Mountain View.

"A reminder to everyone that putting your garbage out early can put people and animals at risk," the Village urges.

"Please refrain from putting garbage out until the day of the pick-up."

Jamie Cheveldave caught a bear on her security camera checking out her deck on Catt Avenue around 1 a.m. Tuesday, May 13.

Another bear was caught on camera on Fairview Lane.

A grizzly bear has also been reported in Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park in the Cosens Bay area.
