Clearwater RCMP responded to 26 calls for service this past week

Clearwater RCMP responded to 26 calls for service this past week including a disturbing the peace, a rock thrown at a vehicle and an abandoned vehicle.

On Oct. 15, 2024 at 6:38 a.m., the landlord of a property in the 1000 block of Scott Road called to report a tenant making noise by banging on walls inside a unit, and threatening to burn the building. “The tenant had been yelling and swearing since 4 a.m. Police were busy with a higher priority file and unable to attend initially,” said Sgt. Grant Simpson, detachment commander for the Clearwater RCMP.

Const. Tobin then reportedly spoke with the landlord at 7 a.m. and confirmed the tenant was now quiet and remaining inside the residence. Upon conclusion of the higher priority file Tobin again spoke with the landlord at 9:30 a.m.

The landlord confirmed that the tenant has been good since he called and suspects he was acting out due to being given an eviction notice yesterday, said Simpson.

The landlord reportedly added that one of his workers was doing landscaping and the tenant came out offering to help but the landlord directed him to return to his unit, advising that his help was not wanted at this time. The tenant was cooperative and followed this direction.

Simpson reports that on Oct. 15, 2024, at 10:33 a.m. a local man called to report that someone had thrown a fastball sized rock into his yard in the 1400 block of Davy Road, striking the windshield of his pickup.

On Oct. 15, at 4:45 p.m. a resident called the RCMP to report an abandoned vehicle in the skate park parking lot on Murtle Crescent in Clearwater, B.C.

The report said a greed Dodge truck with the back windows broken out and no license plates had been left unattended for some time.

Meyer went to the location to investigate at 10:30 p.m., ran the VIN number of the vehicle. Meyer contacted the owner who advised him the engine was blown and he will be towing the vehicle on Wednesday.
