There will be a community barbecue in Clearwater on Canada Day, Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

The community of Clearwater is invited to celebrate Canada Day together on Tuesday, July 1.

Several activities are planned for Dutch Lake Beach beginning at 11 a.m. and going until 3 p.m.

Mayor and council will be firing up the barbecue to cook hot dogs and burgers and food will be by donation.

Mayor Merlin Blackwell said he thinks, more then ever, Canadians understand the importance of Canada and being a member of a community and the larger society.

"What’s happening around the world, in war zones, in politics south of the border, it has shown us how good we actually have it," he said. "We are far from being perfect, but we are still moving forward and we are trying to right the wrongs of the past, especially in regards to First Nations."

He said Canada is not broken.

"It may be dented and dinged, but it still awes and amazes me, especially when I come back from foreign adventures. Clearwater council will be slinging burgers and serving food on Canada Day. It is one of our favourite events of the year because we get to see so many people from in and around town, as well as tourists who are super impressed with where and how we live.”

There will also be yard activities, paddle boarding, face painting, arts and crafts, Indigenous games and more.

"This is a free event and a wonderful opportunity for us to all come together, connect, and enjoy some sunshine. More updates to come!" notes the District of Clearwater Facebook page.
