The Castlegar and District Public Library has re-opened after an 10-day closure due to a sewer backup.

The March 23 incident damaged the children's area of the library, which will remain closed until repairs are complete. However, some materials from the children's section have been relocated to other parts of the library and remain accessible.

Children's programming will resume for pre-registered participants during the week of April 7.

"We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks to all of you – our community – who have been incredibly patient and supportive throughout this unexpected situation," said library staff in a Facebook post announcing the April 3 opening.

The library's regular hours are Monday and Tuesday 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

All of the library's online services also remain operational at castlegar.bc.libraries.coop. This includes borrowing digital books, audio books and periodicals as well as accessing research and educational digital resources.
