Clearwater RCMP responded to 31 calls for service this past week including reports of a snagged powerline by a local company driver while operating a gravel truck, said Sgt. Grant Simpson detachment commander of the Clearwater RCMP.

On March 6, 2024 at 10 a.m. a Kamloops man called to advise that one of his drivers had snagged a power line while operating a company gravel truck in the 400 block of Lake Summit Road.

“The operator advised that he was dumping a load of sand at his driveway at this location and pulled ahead slightly to try and get the remainder out of the box at which point he caught the lower Telus lines, one of which he sheared in half. B.C. Hydro attended and directed him on how to back out while monitoring the overhead lines.”

Simpson added that BC Hydro advised they have the file number and will be sending the invoice to the company and advising Telus of the line they need to repair. In the meantime, the Telus line was made safe by Hydro. No further action by police. No alcohol or drug factors suspected.

On March 7, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. Valemount RCMP sent a message to Clearwater RCMP requesting they attempt to locate, and arrest then release a local male on their Endorsed Arrest Warrant after he failed to appear in Valemount court.

Sgt. Simpson said Const. Tobin arrested, chartered and warned the male for driving while prohibited and disqualified.

”He was then issued an Undertaking to attend court in Valemount on June 6, 2024 as per instructions from Valemount RCMP.”
