Abbotsford students return to summer fashion showcase at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre

Students from Chief Dan George Middle School participating in second annual event

Chief Dan George Middle School students have once again received the opportunity to display their fashion flair and creativity.

The second annual summer fashion showcase has returned to Sevenoaks Shopping Centre, with displays curated by students available for the public to view and then vote on until June 17.

A group of 10 students were partnered with 10 mall fashion retailers and were tasked with arranging the most fashionable outfit possible for a mannequin display.

Mall patrons are asked to judge all 10 displays and vote on their favourite. The stylist with the most votes will earn a $500 shopping spree for Sevenoaks. All voters will also be put into a draw for a $100 Sevenoaks gift card. Voting ends at midnight on June 17.

According to a press release from Sevenoaks, the students have a passion for fashion and that interest was ignited by their Fashion Unit teacher Mrs. Perron. The students consist of: Brier Geddert, Amanda Ogunji, Meira Medeiros, Griffin Beattie, Lilly Johnson, Gia Gill, Danielle Deguara, Max Larson, Kiera Fraser and Charlie Neufeld.

The inaugural showcase occurred last year with Chief Dan Grade 8 student Kaleigh Lewis earning the most votes. She partnered with retailer Below the Belt to win the top prize. Sevenoaks officials stated that more than 8,000 votes were tabulated in the 2024 showcase. The 2024 contest featured 10 students and retailers teaming up.

Participating businesses for 2025 include: Urban Kids, Sport Chek, Boathouse, Zumiez, Below the Belt, Ricki's, JD Sports, Warehouse One, Suzy Shier and Le Chateau.
