Tons of talent heating up the Showroom stage this June

World renowned Pierre Bensusan plays the Showroom on June 25

Longevity John is just getting warmed up as he brings tons of talent to the Showroom this June before he sets the stage for the 39 Days of July in downtown Duncan later this month.

On June 3, tune in to the Eugene and Billy Show at 5:30 p.m. with hosts Eugene Smith and Bill Levity as this dynamic duo provide great music and stage banter, along with interviews and more music from their invited guests. Admission is by donation to be a part of the Showroom’s live studio audience.

Life is not a dress rehearsal. 

Stick around, or swing back by for Dress Rehearsal Tuesday, also known as their weekly open-mic night which gets underway at 7:30 p.m. There will be two more open-mic nights on June 10 and 17.

Ones does not need liquid courage to sing their heart out. 

On June 6, the Showroom once again presents Sober Karaoke, where all are invited to show off their pipes with performances of their favourite songs. Doors open at 6:30 giving attendees plenty of time to sign up before singers begin taking the stage at 7 p.m. All performances will be broadcast live to YouTube and Facebook. Cover for all is $5.

On June 7, at 7:30 p.m., come out to hear for the CD release of the Joshua Gellman Band featuring his new single 'Settle Down'. Myc Sharret and the Alibis will open. Tickets are $20.

On June 8 at 7:30 p.m. Lindi Ortega is making a stop at the Duncan Showroom as a part of her mini tour across B.C. Often referred to as a country artist during her solo career, she has received much praise for the radio-friendly mainstream fare of the six CD's she has released. Tickets are $25.

On June 11 at 7:30 p.m., plant yourself at the Showroom for a soulful tribute to the roots of R&B with Ladies and Gentleman. This will be their first time gracing the Showroom stage. A minimum donation of $10 is suggested.

On June 12 at 7:30 p.m., be hip to be square and come out for songwriters in the round. 

Singer/songwriters Alli Bean, Jessica Blakney and Sam Maisch will trade off five to six songs while audience members are treated to ensuing banter and the transparency of a musician's life. A donation of $20 is suggested.

On June 14 from 2 to 10 p.m. mark you calendars and aim to have a good time at the Red Arrow Birthday Party at their brewery in Duncan where Dr. Ted Cadiillac and the Showroom Crew will be aiding with production for party vibes and tons of great live music as the local brewery celebrates 10 years in the community.

On June 15, broaden your musical tastes as Red Arrow Brewing and 89.7 FM present Daniel Wesley for a night of rock, reggae, and island vibes. The Duncan Showroom crew will be doing production for the event as Wesley and his band takes the stage at the local Duncan brewery. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chair for this all ages event that will take place rain or shine. Doors open at 4 p.m. and tickets are $47.50. Visit redarrowbeer.ca for tickets.

On June 19 at 7:30 p.m., let the music of Canadian recording artist and author Virgil Brown tug on your heart strings as he performs original songs while playing open tuning finger style guitar all while sprinkled with stories, humour and a few covers for an evening of entertainment. Tickets are $20.

On June 21 at 7:30 p.m., kick off the first day of summer at the Showroom as they turn up the heat with the two soulful voices of Australian-based singer-songwriter and musician Saritah, who will be joined on stage by homegrown talent Hanna Elise. Saritah, who was born in Seoul, South Korea, raised in Perth, Australia and also lived in France, Spain, London and Los Angeles, California has been gaining fans worldwide with her weave of reggae, soul and acoustic. Tickets are $20.

On June 22, immerse yourself in love and music for Duncan's Pride Day which will be held at Duncan City Square from 12 to 5 p.m. The Duncan Showroom crew will be in charge of production, so come out and enjoy the free festivities with speeches, drag shows, and musical acts such as Tina Jones and Boneyard Babes to name a few.

On June 24 at 7:30 p.m., go with the FLOW as Bill Levity hosts For the Love of Words.

Celebrating its 17th year, FLOW is a monthly invitation for all writers and poets to bring their inner thoughts and favourite words to the stage in front of a live audience. Each performer will be given five minutes to read their works. Admission is $5 for all performers, and $7 for audience members.

French-Algerian composer, vocalist, and acoustic guitar virtuoso Pierre Bensusan is headed to the intimate Showroom stage on June 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Recognized as one of the greatest guitar players of the 21st century, Bensusan has won the Independent Music Award for his triple live album Encore and was voted Best World Music Guitarist by Guitar Player Magazine reader’s poll. Tickets for this world class act are $40.

On June 27, the 39 Days of July is back to celebrate its 13th year. 

The epic annual music festival kicks off the first day of festivities at Charles Hoey Memorial Park starting at noon with the Dennis and Andy Show followed by Chuck McCandless at 1 and Saritah at 2 p.m. Things move along with Carlson's Dance at 3 p.m. then up next it's the Cow Bells at 4 p.m.  The acts taking the stage at 5 nd 6 p.m. are still to be determined, and Pozitive Rebellion is up at 7 p.m. with the Chosen Ones closing the City Square stage at 8:30 p.m.
