An all-Canadian production and artistic team brings popular movie songs of A Whole New World to a Surrey stage this weekend.
Hollywood and Disney hits are promised by Sound The Alarm music/theatre company during Friday night's concert (June 20) at Bell Performing Arts Centre, where tickets are sold for $63 and up. A few hundred seats are already taken, judging by a seating map on the website.
In 2022 the same creative team produced a Music of the Night tour, celebrating Andrew Lloyd Webber’s music and 75th birthday.
This spring, A Whole New World has toured across B.C., with Surrey's Bell last on the list of theatres.
In two acts, concert-goers should expect the greatest hits from Disney's most popular movies plus songs from The Sound of Music, Grease, Mamma Mia, Moulin Rouge and more, with a live band and cast of singers in lighting designed by Jason Hand.
“This is a show that will bring some much needed joy to audiences of all ages — perfect for every generation in the family,” said artistic director Alan Corbishley.
Music director Frederik Robert collaborated with Evan Berndt on the music arrangements and designs.
The cast includes returning vocalists Aaron Hastelow, Adam Fisher, Tainui Kuru and Georgia Bennett, joined by new artists Ruth Acheampong, Kryslyne-Mai Ancheta, Kaleigh Gorka, and Aaron Durand. They are accompanied by returning band members Evan Berndt, Arielle Ballance, Dean McKey, Carol Colpitts, David Usselman and Cole Friesen.
