Surrey's 2025 Canada Day party is about to go country for a night.
The July 1 event, billed as Western Canada’s largest Canada Day celebration, will feature headliners The Reklaws along with fellow Canadian singer-songwriter Goldie Boutilier and Indigenous rock ‘n’ roller Garret T. Willie, organizers announced Thursday (May 22).
The flag-waving, free-admission event will return to Cloverdale's Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre on Tuesday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., with fireworks to follow the main-stage music and a day of family-friendly activities and attractions.
Festival-goers should expect live entertain on four stages, dance battles, DJs, rides, food trucks and a beer garden with site-wide licence. Look for the schedule and more details on surreycanadaday.ca.
Led by Ontario-raised siblings Jenna and Stuart Walker, The Reklaws have eight Juno nominations since 2012, when the duo began performing music for kids and families at their parents' petting zoo, The Yee Haw Adventure Farm.
They are "proud to bring the party to every stage they stand on," says a bio on their agents' website, with songs including "Love Live the Night," "I Grew Up on a Farm," "What the Truck" and "Honky Tonkin' About."
The duo, which appeared on America's Got Talent in 2024, wrote a touching song, "People Don't Talk About," after losing their mom to mental health two years earlier.
Fun fact: The Reklaws band name is Walker spelled backward.
