People can celebrate "the good old days" when a popular event returns to a small Chilliwack community in June.
That's the theme for the 53rd annual Yarrow Days, a three-day celebration of small-town living which runs June 6 to 8 at Yarrow Pioneer Park, and other locations in Yarrow.
This year's event includes a farmers' market, pancake breakfast, live entertainment, classic car show, and the ever-popular parade.
Things kick off Friday evening (June 6) with the Yarrow Farm Market from 5 p.m. to dusk at Pioneer Park. For sale at the market will be Yarrow Days apparel and memorabilia.
A fun run/walk is at 6:15 p.m. (registration at 6 p.m.) starting at Yarrow Community Centre (4670 Community St.) and ending at the greenspace at Elizabeth Avenue and Kehler Street. There are two routes: a two-kilometre walk, and a five-kilometre run. It is by donation with proceeds going to the Yarrow Volunteer Society.
On Saturday (June 7) dig into a free pancake breakfast at Yarrow Canadian Reformed Church (42285 Yarrow Central Rd.) from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. They will be accepting non-perishable food donations for the Salvation Army.
The show-and-shine classic car show goes from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Yarrow United Mennonite Church (4336 Eckert St.). Entry is by donation to the Yarrow Volunteer Society; vehicles welcome at 8 a.m., but no early birds.
After breakfast, the streets of Yarrow will get very busy when the parade starts rolling.
Organizers are calling it "the greatest small-town parade left standing."
It leaves Yarrow Community School at 10 a.m. and heads south on Wilson Road, then west on Yarrow Central Road to Yarrow Mennonite Brethren Church. There will be road closures in the area from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 11:15 a.m.
After the parade, head to Party in the Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Yarrow Pinoneer Park for live entertainment, kids games, a barbecue concession, merchandise sales, food trucks, craft booths, a vendors' village and more. Entertainment includes: the Sardis Drum Line, Little Kings Olive Tree (Ryan and Olivia Keeping), magician Gary Savard, Terry Sidhu bhangra dancers, The Maybelles, and local musicians Nelly and Dionne.
The Yarrow fire hall will have an open house where the fire-safety demo house will be on site, plus people can play with hoses and explore the fire trucks until 2:30 p.m.
Hazelnut Inn (42402 Yarrow Central Rd.) will also have an open house until 4 p.m.
Moving into the evening, it's the Yarrow Days Dance with Retrobot from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Yarrow Community Centre (4670 Community St.). This year, the dance includes a late-night picnic lunch. This is a 19+ event and tickets are $33.28 at Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/yarrow-days-dance-2025-tickets-1232281530229.
Food trucks will be on site at Yarrow Community Centre from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. that night.
In the morning, wake up to brunch on Sunday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Yarrow Community Centre. There will be gourmet breakfast sandwiches with fresh fruit plates. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for kids under the age of 12, and it's free for tots under the age of five.
After brunch, grab a blanket or a lawn chair and head over to Yarrow Pioneer Park for the non-denominational church service in the park at 11:30 a.m. It is happening rain or shine, and will be co-hosted by the churches of Yarrow.
Also on Sunday, there will be an open house at Holland Imports (41844 No. 3 Rd.) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
