A No Frills grocery store is set to open in Tyee Plaza where Sports Experts used to be, and it's all happening in September.
A spokesperson from Loblaw Companies, the parent company of No Frills, confirmed via email the discount supermarket will open in Campbell River at 1245 Shoppers Row on Sept. 11.
The announcement is part of the company's strategy to grow its presence on Vancouver Island, following earlier news of new stores opening in Chemainus and the greater Victoria area in March.
After 25 years, Sports Experts shut its doors permanently in March.
The supermarket chain offers Loblaw’s No Name and President’s Choice brands, and runs about 250 franchises across Canada.
The spokesperson said more information will be released closer to the date. Part-time grocery store clerk jobs for the location are currently listed on the Loblaw Companies website.
