LETTER: White Rock 'yea-sayers' want to keep current city hall

Highrise 'city hub' uptown is not the right answer, these residents say

These White Rock residents want to see the current city hall site saved.

Editor,

Coun. Cheung was disingenuous in her statement, "Every one of us voted for a community hub ..."  Cheung also dismissed anyone who disagreed with her as "loud naysayers."

We are "yea-sayers" who see no need for a highrise, all-purpose "city hub" at the expense of the current city hall location, our artful library, the cenotaph space and the surrounding treed areas.  These open spaces are within reach of local schoolchildren, unlike the uptown area.

If city council and staff need more space, raise the roof and double the size of the current city hall at a fraction of the cost of the proposed "hub."

We moved to White Rock almost 20 years ago because the ambience of this small city by the sea appealed to us. We've seen it mushroom more in favour of "development" than livability.

If you agree, join us in writing White Rock city council whiterockcouncil@whiterockcity.ca, plus speaking at any town meeting on this issue.
