Barriere Star/Journal
“It’s always tea-time, and we’ve no time to wash the things between whiles.”
(Mad Hatter quote from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll)
Right at the beginning of the 2017 North Thompson Fall Fair entry catalog is the BC Fairs Special Section. It has some interesting divisions that are worth considering. For instance, Division B - the North Thompson Fall Fair categories. There are four items in this division, one of which is Lifestyles Table Settings, and it has two themes to choose from: St. Patrick’s Day Pot Luck, and Alice in Wonderland.
If you are putting together an entry for this fun class, remember to keep all table decorations to the theme you choose. You must provide the table cloth, place-mats, dishes, centre pieces, and so on; basically everything except the table itself.
There is also a “People’s Choice Award, Canada’s 150th”. This is one where every Fall Fair goer gets to help pick the winner. As folks amble through the displays in the Exhibit Hall during the Labour Day Weekend event, pay special attention to any displays that commemorate Canada’s 150th anniversary. Then place your vote in the box in the Exhibit Hall. The entry with the most votes will receive a trophy from the District of Barriere as well as a Canadian Flag.
There are more, equally interesting categories in this Section, so be sure to read through page 14 in the North Thompson Fall Fair catalog. We look forward to seeing everyone’s fascinating entries at this year’s fall fair.
