Board members of the new Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade (SWRBOT) were introduced Wednesday (June 18) in a "milestone" event uniting Surrey Board of Trade and South Surrey & White Rock Chamber of Commerce.
Inaugural directors of the business organization's board bring together "diverse leadership from across Surrey and White Rock,” according to Rory Morgan, board chair.
“It represents a significant and united step forward for our business communities, and we’re honoured to welcome new members who bring fresh perspectives to our shared priorities," he said in a news release.
The unveiling of Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade's "brand and identity" is planned this fall, following federal government approval of the merger.
Wednesday's AGM was held in South Surrey at Diamond 5 Clubhouse Restaurant at Softball City. A package of financials and reports is posted on businessinsurrey.com.
Morgan (from KSW Lawyers) will chair a board that includes Roger Steers (RJC Engineers) as vice-chair and Baljit Dhaliwal (TJ’s Education & Safety Training Corp.) as immediate past-chair.
Directors are Amrita Bhogal (from Sunrise Kitchens), Scott Brown (Gandalf Holdings), Gurjinder Bhurji (Signature Real Estate Group), Nicky Dhaliwal (Blueprint at UBC), Richard Fung (Shoppers Drug Mart), Harp Khela (Harp Khela Real Estate Group), Anthony Manning (White Rock Museum & Archives), Heather Martin (Comfort Keepers), John Michener (Port of Bellingham), Sasha Ramnarine (Remedios & Company), Amar Sanghera (KPMG), Mike Spiess (Ashdown Capital) and Louise Tremblay (Brella Community Services Society).
Back in March, months before the planned merger, South Surrey resident Joslyn Young was named CEO of Surrey Board of Trade (SBOT) and acting executive director of South Surrey & White Rock Chamber of Commerce.
