Victoria’s first ‘Cat Walk’ struts in to bring purrs and love to feline fans

Attendees are invited to stroll through Fernwood streets to spot cats lounging in their urban habitat

Fernwood is set to host its first-ever Cat Walk on Saturday, May 31, transforming the Victoria neighbourhood into a feline-themed walking tour.

The free, family-friendly event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. Participants can pick up a map at Little Fernwood Gallery (1921 Fernwood Rd.) starting at 1:30 p.m.

Attendees will have the chance to embark on a self-guided or group stroll through the area to spot neighbourhood cats lounging in yards, peeking from windows or strolling the sidewalks.

Cats will be viewed from the sidewalk only, and organizers ask visitors to leave their own pets at home to avoid startling the local felines.

Following the tour, an after-party at the Fernwood Inn will feature a raffle, giveaways and a pop-up market with local vendors selling cat-related goods, from organic catnip to gourmet treats. The celebration runs until 6 p.m.
