Funds raised from Feast For A Cause will go towards purchasing medical equipment at the Elk Valley Hospital in Fernie.
The fundraiser event was hosted by Fernie Rotary Club in April, serving food from 13 local restaurants. $35,000 was raised for the East Kootenay Foundation for Health.
"Feast for a Cause is a testament to what our community can achieve when we come together with purpose," said Rotary Club president Cindy Pearson. "The support from local restaurants, sponsors, and residents is inspiring. We are so proud to see these funds directly enhancing care at the Elk Valley Hospital. It’s a powerful reminder of the impact local giving can have on local health.”
Proceeds from the event will help purchase a new fetal monitor and bladder scanner.
Monitors are useful in tracking babies heart rates and uterine contractions during labour, to identify fetal distress and ensure safe delivery for mother and child. The scanner uses ultrasound technology to measure bladder volume, helpful in diagnosing urinary retention issues and post-operative complications.
