Three truly beautiful paintings by the talented Ann Bates were passed into the hands of the Clearwater Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital staff on Feb. 7.
Bernie Easson (health services administrator for Thompson-Caribou rural) and Melissa Ferreira (nursing program lead) were there to receive them.

Bates bequeathed the paintings to the hospital as a thank you for the wonderful care she received before her recent passing. Her daughter Abbey Bates (who lives locally) and son Wesley from Ontario came to present and hang the offerings.
Ann Bates studied in the Art Students League in New York City and blessed local residents with her wonderful works since moving to this area in 2001. The oil paintings given to the hospital are a depiction of Bob Miller’s pond.
Her son recalled a running inside joke with a smile, During her stay in the hospital, each time she went by some of her own artwork on the walls she would make a comment about how lovely they were. When he shared this, it brought an answering smile from of all of those present.
While living in the area Ann had taken a great interest in all the wild ginger and flora in the area and couldn’t resist painting them to everyone’s pleasure with whom she shared them. An amazing legacy now for everyone to enjoy for years to come!
