It will be a week of family fun in Clearwater and surrounding areas during Family Literacy Week in B.C. which is celebrated this year from Jan. 21 to Jan. 28 for 2024. This year’s theme is “Let’s have a family party!” and in Clearwater it is a full schedule all week long with ‘Unplug and Play’ activities.
The free ‘Unplug and Play’ activities in Clearwater sponsored by Yellowhead Community Services and Interior Savings, encourage families to unplug from their devices and have some super fun, active family time together.
Yellowhead Community Services Clearwater and area Early Years Service Provider, Denica Kelly was excited to kick off the week on Sat. Jan. 20 with the annual ‘Book Hunt’ and colouring contest saying, “I had a number of families contacting me early on anxious to take part in the book hunt. The kids look forward to that every year. During the week’s events the kids can keep a log with their family of the events they take part in and will be entered to win a Chapter’s gift card. We have so much fun and a variety of activities around town. On Sunday, Jan. 21, there was a Family Skate at the North Thompson Sportsplex with hot chocolate and snacks provided for the kids. Both events were a fun way to start off the week’s events.”
