The Tour of Honour team travelling throughout British Columbia and the Yukon will be visiting the Vavenby and District Branch Royal Canadian Legion 259 in Clearwater at approximately 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30 at the legion located at 257 Glen Road.
The tour will later be at the Legion in Barriere at 2 p.m.
The Tour of Honour will be arriving in a sponsored Humvee vehicle pulling a trailer to visit Clearwater and Barriere legions in the North Thompson Valley and is a grassroots effort to bring attention to the illnesses and injuries that face those who have served in the military or as first responders.
Honour House and Honour Ranch are located in Ashcroft, B.C. and provide a “home away from home” for members of emergency services, military personnel, veterans and their families when they are seriously ill or injured. Honour Ranch offers supportive mental health programs for those struggling with the effects of operational stress injuries.
Honour House and Honour Ranch do not receive direct funding and are reliant on donations and fundraising initiatives to meet operating costs and expenses. Legion Branch 259 has donated $2,000 from the Poppy Trust Fund to Honour Ranch in 2023 and will continue to support both Honour House and Honour Ranch as they have for a number of years in the past.
Through the efforts of the Royal Canadian Legion as recipients of the services offered by Honour House and Honour Ranch and additional first responding units in B.C. these programs continue to be of great benefit to all who serve to protect.
As part of the funding raising efforts of the Tour of Honour, the H2 Humvee that they will be arriving in is going to be raffled off and they will also have square space terminals and a box for donations at each location they visit. All donations received go to benefiting those who are in need of a safe haven or other mental health and wellness programs that will improve their daily lives ongoing.
