TNRL adds Blackpool stop to Mobile Library schedule

Mobile Library will be stopping in Blackpool on Wednesday evenings starting Jan. 8

The Thompson-Nicola Regional Library (TNRL) has announced a new short stop in Blackpool, just south of Clearwater, for its Mobile Library.

The Blackpool stop has been added to the North Thompson route from January through June, with the Mobile Library stopping every Wednesday from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at the corner of Ford Road and Jenkins Road. The full route schedule can be viewed at https://wpcdn.tnrd.ca/.../2025-Jan-Jun-Mobile-Library.

“This new stop not only provides TNRL patrons with greater access to services but also welcomes new users to sign up for library cards and explore everything we offer," said TNRL marketing and communications coordinator Jordan Fraser in an email to the Clearwater Times. "Additionally, it offers another convenient option for residents while the Clearwater Library is temporarily relocated to the Dutch Lake Community Centre while it undergoes renovations."

Fraser added that on Jan. 8, the Mini Mobile Library van might be visiting, as the regular Mobile Library finishes its winter maintenance.

"It's always exciting to be able to announce new stops and locations for the Mobile Library," said Thompson-Nicola Regional District board chair Barbara Roden. "The Mobile Library — or Bookmobile, as many people fondly remember it as — has been an integral part of the library system for many years, bringing books and so much more to rural areas of the regional district. It's not just a library, it's a social centre.

"And while patrons in the North Thompson will be able to access many of the Clearwater Library's resources at the Dutch Lake Community Centre while renovations to the Clearwater branch are underway, the Mobile Library provides another opportunity for people to access the services provided by the Thompson-Nicola Regional Library system."

Beginning in January 2025, the TNRL will begin work on a significant improvement project to the Clearwater Library. As a result of renovations, the library will be temporarily relocated for approximately six months to the Dutch Lake Community Centre, located at 209 Dutch Lake Road.

Additional online services offered by the TNRL library can be accessed via the website at https://www.tnrl.ca/digital-library/.
