A total of 23 teams raised $42,000 for hospitals in the eastern Fraser Valley during the recent Healthcare Heroes Charity Slo-Pitch Tournament in Abbotsford.
The event, held at Exhibition Park over the Easter long weekend, was hosted by the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF).
First place in the A division went to the Lights Out team, with Gorilla Gang as runners-up.
Top spot in the B division went to Ragrets, with Skittled as runners-up and Growlers receiving honourable mention.
The C division was won by Balls and Dolls, with Smoking Jays as runners-up.
FVHCF fund development coordinator Leslie Gmur thanked the teams; tournament coordinators Teri Vander Wyk, Lisa Dick, Don Fitzgerald and Troy Bernier; and the sponsors, umpires, volunteers and spectators for making the event a success.
"This year's event exceeded our expectations," she said.
The FVHCF supports hospitals and services in Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Hope and Agassiz.
