From the May 9, 1984 Observer: "Sixteen area residents have completed a 15 week Homemaker/Long Term Care Aide course at Okanagan College and are now set to work in long-term care facilities such as Pioneer Lodge or with an agency such as Shuswap Homemakers. The course covered a wide range of topics including communications, nutrition, growth and development, with an emphasis on the elderly.
