'Checking everyone that they're in line' highlight of Sicamous Fire Chief for a Day

Logan Dawson, 9, whipped crew into shape at May 20 practice

Despite being Sicamous Fire Rescue's newest recruit, nine-year-old Logan Dawson went straight to the top of the ladder as Chief for a Day.

On Tuesday, May 20, the Parkview Elementary student put the crew through their paces as he led the weekly practice that began with him presenting a lesson plan for the night's training. He then inspected the crew as they lined up at attention, which was a highlight for the the young chief.

When asked what his favourite part of the evening was, Dawson answered "checking everyone that they're in line." Taking the task seriously, he took the opportunity to call out crew member Geoff Kroeker for being out of step to the amusement of the others.

Dawson ended his stint as Fire Chief for a Day by supervising practice, which included the crew running a car fire drill, before he turned the department back over to Chief Lorenzo De Arcangelis, saying that he'll "maybe" be a fire fighter when he's older.
