Lumby men have hammered out a place to be constructive.

The Lumby Men’s Shed is now a registered society, as of the Victoria Day weekend.

Jan Fennema, president of the Men’s Shed Association of BC, and Audrey Fennema, director/treasurer with Men’s Shed Canada, came to town to meet some of the Lumby Men’s Shed members to offer advice and help.

“Essentially, Men’s Sheds are about increasing well-being by fostering social connections, increasing self-esteem, and encouraging healthy living,” said Steve Lee, of the Fraser Lake Men’s Shed.

“Men Sheds are an inclusive environment for men to work together on meaningful projects. The shed is not a building, but a network of relationships between the shedders.”

Men of all ages can enjoy activities for their own benefit and that of the community.

For all those interested in finding out more about the benefits of having a Lumby Men’s Shed, there will be an informal meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, at the OAP Hall, 1737 Glencaird St.
