The District of Clearwater Mayor and Council along with many community volunteers served up the ‘Love where you live’ burgers, hot dogs and cup cakes on Canada Day at Dutch Lake park.

The day was filled with swimming, water sports, activities which included indigenous games, painting and crafts hosted by Valley Pride, Henna designs and face-painting. The beach at Dutch Lake was filled with laughter, music and the smells of summer - barbecue, water and sun-block.

Canada Day events concluded with an independent, lighted paddling gathering on the lake in place of fireworks, that was initiated by DOC councillor, Theresa Braaten. The paddler’s used glow sticks and battery operated lights attached to their paddle boards, canoes or kayaks. A sparkling, peaceful scene marking the end of an enjoyable day celebrating the great country we live in . Oh Canada!
