The Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is excited to announce after several months of closure, the Gift Shoppe in the lobby of the hospital has reopened.
During the closed time, Alana Menzel of Old Town Gift Shoppe offered us space to display and sell our home-made gift items. It was a great option for both the auxiliary and the shopping public. We will continue to have stock there.
Now that Covid regulations have relaxed, the gift shop’s new coordinator, Andrea Lever, has readied the sales space for business, filling the shelves with new items and unique gifts. The shop is open Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m- 1 p.m., staffed by volunteer auxiliary members. The book rack and bookshelf are kept filled for your reading pleasure, with books priced at 25 cents each and the book pig is ready to take your change at any time. All money raised goes to help equip the hospital and provide services for the residents of Forest View Place.
The annual auxiliary 50/50 ticket sales will continue until all the $10 tickets are sold or the draw date of Dec. 7. You can get your chance to win up to $10,000 from auxiliary members selling at Buy Low until mid October, from members set up in other areas of town, like the Brookfield Shopping Mall and at our thrift shop in Vavenby.
The thrift shop (past the store and on the corner) is open Wednesdays and Sundays, offering shoppers ample choices. Winter stock is now being added to the shelves and racks, Halloween stock is on display and staff are planning on putting out Christmas treasures when space allows. If you like searching for the illusive item on your wish list, thrift store shopping is just what you need to do! If you don’t see what you are looking for, ask the shop’s knowledgeable volunteers. The store is also the TNRD outlet for eco cards.
