The Downtown Kelowna Association (DKA) has a new executive director.
Paula Quinn will step into the role following the upcoming departure of Mark Burley, who has led the organization for the past six years.
“This announcement is bittersweet in that we’re delighted to welcome a very capable, experienced leader in Paula Quinn, but at the same time we’re bidding farewell to a champion of downtown in Mark Burley,” said Renata Mills, President of the DKA Board of Directors.
One of the first Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) in the province, the DKA represents over 1,100 members in retail and restaurants to hospitality, entertainment, and professional services. The association advocates for a vibrant and safe downtown core, supporting business retention, promotions, events, and revitalization projects.
“With my background in strategic leadership, community development, and stakeholder engagement, I will bring a passion for collaboration and innovation to support the continued growth and vibrancy of Downtown Kelowna,” said Quinn.
Most recently, she served as executive director of the KF Aerospace Centre for Excellence. Her leadership experience spans aviation, entrepreneurship, and community engagement.
Quinn was elected as a director of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce in 2022 and has also held board roles with the B.C. Cancer Foundation, the Regional District of Central Okanagan, and the Kelowna Airport Advisory Committee.
She will take on her new role after the DKA’s Annual General Meeting on June 4.
