This Sunday, June 8, join hands, hearts, and voices at Lakeside Park for a powerful day of joy, gratitude, and giving back. The Community Celebration and Fundraiser honours the Autonomous Sinixt. It’s a day to remember, to uplift, and to come together in service of something greater than ourselves.

Funds raised will directly support the Autonomous Sinixt resurgence and provide bursaries for underprivileged children at The Forest Path Forest School, connecting youth to land-based education and ancestral wisdom.

From 11:55 a.m. to 8:59 p.m., enjoy a vibrant Dancing Zone with live music and DJs, including the Kootenays’ own award-winning Adham Shaikh, and the ever-popular, high-energy Samba band. Family fun thrives in the Kids Zone, offering nature crafts, storytelling, skill sharing and games.

Feast freely on delicious, locally sourced food — including pasture-raised lamb sausages, burgers, and veggie options — all provided with love.

Don't miss the huge Silent Auction, featuring dozens of prized items and big-ticket offerings like Whitewater ski passes, Hume Hotel stays, Nelson Toyota oil changes, and more.

There will also be traditional games for kids and adults alike — three-legged and sack races, egg tosses, and water balloon relays — with prizes and plenty of laughter.

This is more than an event — it’s a celebration of place, purpose, and people. Please bring your friends, your family and a generous heart. Together, let’s support our community, our children and the beautiful earth that holds us all.
