The Royal Canadian Legion branch #259 in Clearwater served a delicious roast beef dinner with all of the fixings on Saturday, Nov. 2 to a full dining hall. Volunteers showed the love to veterans and guests cooking up the annual Veterans' Dinner in honour of those who have served to protect. Along with the meal guests enjoyed socializing and a 50/50 draw.
Moments of sombre reflection and remembrance through viewing the honour wall and sharing family stories of historical value were also part of the annual event.
Legion members welcomed conversations about the history of the organization, offering some history of the photos and memorabilia lining the walls to honour service men and women.
The Legion is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that promotes Remembrance Day and supports veterans and their families.
Remembrance Day ceremonies will be taking place on Nov. 11 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Reg Small Park where the Cenotaph is located alongside the Clearwater River.
