Blue River celebrated Canada Day with the annual parade through town to Eleanor Lake where the festivities took place for an afternoon of fun for all ages.
The day’s events included canoe racing for the adults, paddle board races for the kids, a bucket filling race, nail hammer contest for all ages, a juicy watermelon eating contest and a sand castle building competition.
Organizer Kasey Quinn was credited with the event’s success again this year by Thompson Nicola Regional Director for Area ‘B’ Lee Onslow said, “We are so thankful for all of the hard work and planning that Kasey does each year to make this so much fun for everyone. It takes a lot of planning to coordinate the parade, games and prizes and she does a fabulous job!”
Onslow added, “The beach house concession volunteers pumped out the meals and the majority of people left with smiling faces, full tummies and a prize or two.”
Mike Wiegele’s Heli Ski Resort donated the cupcakes and ice cream cups, something started back in time for each Canada Day celebration.
“So happy everyone had another enjoyable Canada Day with us in Blue River. It’s really worth it to see all of these happy kids and families having fun together every year,” said organizer Kasey Quinn, “We hope everyone had as much fun as we all did here in Blue River!”
