“The town clean up in Blue River on May 5, was a success and the public spaces in town look amazing,” said the director for Area ‘B’ Lee Onslow.
The Thompson Nicole Regional District director added that a portion of the frontage roads were cleaned by volunteers.
She added, “This is by far the worst volunteer position available. Bag after bag of garbage including human poop bags and pee bottles were cleaned up. There is still more to be done and it is my hope that the businesses along the road take some ownership of the trash and pitch in to help clean the space. Esso and PetroCanada both have work to do to help keep Blue River trash-free.”
There will also be a month long yard sale during May in Blue River and resident Norma Heal invites the community and people from the valley to watch for the signs along the highway.
The sale will involve multi yard sales in the community throughout May.
Heal said, “May Madness in Blue River with multiple yard sales for the month of May! We had a great concession during community clean up on May 5 set up at the community hall. We are hoping that folks will take the time to drive up for a browse around town. We expect it to be 25 days of yard sale activity in May.”
The long time resident feels that many people from Clearwater and Valemount might be interested in make a “day of it” and come visit Blue River for the May yard sales.
