The 43rd annual Terry Fox Run took place in Clearwater on Sunday Sept. 17 with support from local runners.
Run organizer, Mark Taylor said this year’s event took place, as in previous years, with the start and finish located in the North Thompson Sportsplex parking lot. The race included a two-kilometre, five-kilometre and ten-kilometre run. The 17 participants registered for the run along with two support volunteers raised over $300 for the Terry Fox Foundation.
Taylor says there are a variety of routes throughout Clearwater, depending on the length and difficulty of which run the participants choose to register for.
Even though so many years have passed, the legacy of Terry’s Marathon of Hope to bring awareness and support to cancer research lives on year after year, in small towns, schools and larger cities across Canada.
There will be more runs taking place this coming week at Clearwater Secondary School and elsewhere in B.C. keeping this Canadian hero’s message alive once again.
The Terry Fox Foundation website is encouraging participants across Canada to leave their own personal messages, memories and artwork that will be used for future promotions on t-shirts and for campaigns. You can view messages or leave your own at: https://terryfox.org/
